• Image of Aspen's Roots

Aspen, a pretty, young sapling, was new and carefree. She felt happy with her place in the earth among the wonders of nature until a change of seasons; great winds and cold landscape made her bare and thoughtful. With time to ponder and feel, she came to know the strength of roots that connected her to family. Aspen soon learned that "I'm not alone, it's not just me; I'm part of a family, a big family tree."

This beautifully illustrated story of thinking outside of our selves and feeling strength in roots we share with others is the debut work of author Paul Sullivan and illustrator Pam Gillette.
